The 2018 First for Kids Honorees

• Representative Vincent Candelora and Representative Jason Rojas: Bipartisan Legislative Leadership
  For their leadership in fiscal policy issues during the legislative session and willingness to work in a bipartisan, constructive manner to seek constructive reforms to Connecticut’s fiscal framework, introducing changes to fiscal restrictions like the Bond Lock to provide the tools to the legislature to address the state´s challenges.
   
• Senator Paul Formica and Rose Andrades: Elevating Youth Voice
  For their leadership and advocacy for the legislation that establishes a new 10-day advance notification requirement for placement changes for children in foster care, helping reduce stress and disruptions and enabling them to handle transitions better.
   
• Betty Gallo: Lifetime Achievement Award
  For her tireless work in advancing the cause of equity and opportunity for children and families in the state. Her voice, wisdom, knowledge, and passion fueled countless campaigns. As Connecticut Voices for Children’s lobbyist since its founding, her expertise, charm, and tireless work has been central to our efforts to improve the lives of children and families across the state.
