Increasingly, stakeholders across Connecticut recognize the negative outcomes youth experience from exclusionary discipline and juvenile justice system involvement. This report adds to that understanding by unpacking 2014-15 data that show school arrest rates have decreased across the board. However, the declines were not equal for all students and racial disparities persist; students of color continue to experience the highest school arrest rates. While statewide programs and policies currently seek to reduce student arrest rates, it is crucial to further explore these issues to ensure student arrest rates continue to fall for all groups of students.
