Connecticut’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a common-sense way to help working families paid low wages make ends meet. Reduced two years ago to plug a budget hole, the EITC should be restored to its full a mount to help poor and working families meet the needs of their children.

The EITC reduces the state and local taxes that working families pay, boosting their income and helping them fulfill the financial responsibilities of raising a family. With the proliferation of low-wage work and the hardship it imposes on children, the credit should be restored to its full amount, as pledged.
