Connecticut Voices for Children released a new report, The State of Working Connecticut – 2026: Rising Unemployment, Higher Prices, and Federal Cuts to Public Benefits. This year’s annual SOWC finds that three new problems—rising unemployment, higher prices, and major federal cuts to public benefits—are compounding Connecticut’s longstanding economic challenges. The report examines how these new and long-term challenges are affecting Connecticut workers and households and outlines policy options to protect workers, make wages fairer, and make major household expenses more affordable.
