Our rights work is focused on child welfare, specifically:

  • Supporting investments in families and communities to prevent neglect and abuse
  • Improving services and outcomes for children placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families

Justice

Our juvenile justice work seeks to:

  • Reduce the number of children and youth involved in the justice system and improve outcomes for children and youth who are involved
  • Keep children, youth, schools, and communities safe
  • Address academic, mental health, and behavioral health needs as early as in a child’s life as possible
  • Provide children and youth involved in the justice system with developmentally-appropriate services
  • Reduce recidivism
  • Reduce inequities in the juvenile justice system attributable to poverty and race

 

Our adult justice work seeks to:

  • Reduce the number of adults with children in the justice system and improve outcomes for families
  • Provide adults with children in the justice system with the academic, mental health, and behavioral health supports needed to reemerge into society and their families
  • Reduce inequities in the adult justice system attributable to poverty and race
